WHY STUDY BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY?

 

The structure of the work force and society in general have changed dramatically over the past few years and will continue to change at an ever increasing rate.

This subject aims to introduce and develop efficient and effective use of computers and software applications. It seeks to provide students with varied learning experiences, which will allow them to excel within the computer technology environment.

It will provide them with basic knowledge if they have aspirations to:

•  Provide basic knowledge to assist in gaining employment in the Administration area of public / private enterprises

•  Study Business Communication and Technologies in Senior

•  Provides skills to support a range of other subjects

•  Study Business Organisation and Management in Senior and then a Business Management course

And much, much more!

 

WHAT IS STUDIED?

 

The course is organised as follows:

•  Introduction to Technology

•  Let's Word Process

•  Stationery Design

•  Creative Word Processing

•  Internet Exploration

•  Visual Technologies

 

During the course students will study:

 

•  Ergonomic practices, keyboarding techniques, management of electronic files, input and output devices, development of speed and accuracy

•  Word processing skills and display skills

•  The development, designing and word processing of display documents and appropriate business stationery

•  The production of creative material using a variety of software packages, (eg word, excel and access) office resources and equipment

•  The exploration of various internet related topics including web pages, email, search engines and ethical issues

• The introduction to multimedia presentations including slide shows and web pages using a variety of software packages eg Publisher and PowerPoint

Applies appropriate procedures to produce accurate information

 

ASSESSMENT PROGRAM AND EXPECTATIONS

 

There will be a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 assessment instruments per semester ranging from:

•  In-class exams

•  Folio of work

•  Assignment

•  In-class project

•  Integrated Research Assignment

•  Oral Presentation
