Value of Subject
This course is designed to build on the skills and knowledge already gained by those students involved in the laptop program. It extends this knowledge in a number of areas, and introduces them to new applications and programs. It involves a high level of problem solving and is an extremely useful lead into the senior subject Information Processing & Technology.

  • Programming in Visual Basic
  • Robotics
  • Flash and Macromedia MX
  • Graphics Manipulation
Assessment Tasks
The majority of the assessment is problem-based projects involving a variety of software applications. There is an emphasis on group work and self-assessment in the robotics unit.
Recommendations
This course is designed to extend students who have participated in the laptop program. It is crucial that the students have an interest in Information and Communication Technologies and are willing to work hard. It is also important that students and parents are familiar with the school's computer and internet usage policies.
