The Year 10 Information Communication Technology - Laptop Class hold their Robotics Challenge in Term 3 each year. The challenge is the culmination of a term long unit on robotics, combining IT with engineering, science, social science, communication and problem solving skills. In 2007 the unit was enhancined with the involvement of Yarwun SS Year 6 & & students under the PEST Project with assistance from Rio Tinto Yarwun. The groups have to build and program their robot which is set the task of removing 7 cans from a circle in the minimum time. The challenge is very competitive and the students pick up skills in a number of areas.

Parents and other classes are invited to attend the challenge and are invariably impressed with the results. The students also face questions from the audience regarding the process of building and programming the robot for the task.
