Volleyball School of Excellence
Coaching by the nominated coaches of the Volleyball School of Excellence
and by other coaches who will be invited to participate in the programme.
The 1999 Coach will be Brian van der Weide - Central Queensland Under 17
Coach, supported by Queensland Academy of Sport (volleyball) and
Queensland Volleyball Association
Opportunities to undertake individual strength and fitness programmes
and recommendations as to the strength training regime appropriate to
themselves as an identified player
Athletics training designed to increase speed and jumping techniques
Regular physiological testing of such parameters as speed, endurance and
power
Enrolment and attendance at Gladstone State High School on the
understanding that the school will attempt to provide sufficient
flexibility of scheduling and tolerance of student absence from regular
classes as will be commensurate with both schooling success and high
levels of volleyball achievement.
Guidance and support from school counselling staff
Access to academic assistance from the school's learning support staff
as needed
Access to support from physiotherapists, sports medicine specialists and
dietitians where needed (some medical costs may be able to be provided at
a discount rate)
Sponsorship for uniforms and travelling costs to tournaments is being
pursued on behalf of the program
